The SEBRA Bull Riding was established in 1994 in Archdale, North Carolina. According to Humps N Horns magazine it is one of the oldest continuously
operated bull riding associations in existence.
SEBRA, Its members have held championship titles at every level of rodeo and bull riding from high school to the PBR.
SEBRA is unofficially a semi-pro association and was founded on the principle of sanctioning quality shows with an emphasis on creating better opportunities for its cowboys, producers, contractors and members. The focus of the founding management was to provide an organization where cowboys could compete on fair ground against honest bucking bulls.
Annual profits from the organization are put back into producing the finals, one of the largest of any amateur association at $25,000. Only top stock contractors and producers are selected for sanction of SEBRA;s top events, though the association has recently begun sanctioning smaller, weekly events in the best interests of creating more regular opportunities for its bull riders. The professionalism of the productions can be seen in the selection of the contract acts, the quality of the bull fighters and in the efficiency of the back-pen operations.
Management promises to maintain these principles, but also plans to provide a platform that will allow the association to grow; by promoting the SEBRA name, the members, the contractors and the sponsors will benefit.
The association is also including SEBRA Barrels to make available extra opportunity for producers to enhance their shows with the speed and beauty of barrel racing as well as increase the opportunities available to the countless barrel racers looking for further opportunities.
SEBRA Bull Riding promises to provide sponsors value for their investment. For 2009 SEBRA sanctioned more than 300 events and is wrapping up its largest season with more than $300,000 expected to have been paid out in winnings. With an average attendance of 1,500 fans. Some of the larger SEBRA events had over 3,500 attendees. The largest event sold over 8,300 tickets. SEBRA's web site receives an average of over five hundred hits on a daily basis.
Professional bull riding is quickly becoming one of the nations fastest growing sports. Bull riding has a unique and extremely loyal fan base and SEBRA has become one of the premier associations in the industry.
In terms of action and excitement nothing else compares to it. SEBRA brings some of the toughest men in sports and matches them against the rankest bulls in the industry. The mass appeal of professional bull riding is growing in leaps and bounds and SEBRA continues to be one of the leading semi-pro associations in the industry, providing a stepping stone for many riders with PBR dreams.
